YOSHUKAI
INT'L. KARATE SCHOOL
GRADINGS or BELT TESTINGS
NEXT TEST DATE IS SET FOR: June 26, 2010.
Students who are ready to test will receive notification that will include their time to be at the testing. A general belt testing notice will be posted at the dojo.
There is a written test included in belt testing for all students 9 years old or older. The written test will take place on the same day as the practical test.
Students should know all required material for the belt level that they are testing for and for all of their previous belt levels. If a student does not know their required kata's and material then they should not be testing. Please ensure that you know all the kata’s and techniques (blocks, kicks, punches, stances) for your belt test. This includes knowing the Japanese terms for these techniques.
Students testing are not only expected to know the material required for the level they are testing for and all of their previous belt levels, they must also be able to perform it all at a skill level appropriate for the belt level they are testing for.
Candidates are expected to show kumite (sparring) skill and knowledge level appropriate to the belt level that they are testing for.
Anyone late for testing will NOT be permitted to join in the test. No exceptions. Be on time, or better yet, be a bit early!
Students who are testing are expected to put out a 100% effort so please do not attend a test if you are sick or injured. If you are not sick or injured then put out 110% for your test!
Students will be put through a brief oral test on their required terminology. They will also be asked to perform one, two or three kata’s, depending on their belt level. They may also be asked to perform other kata’s and/or techniques (blocks, kicks, punches, stances) using the Japanese terminology. Students with coloured belts who are testing will be asked to spar for two or three matches. Lastly, there is a written test that will be completed at home. Bring your sparring gear. Make sure your finger and toe nails are clipped short and clean.
